Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. We do not retain or log those search terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email sent to us is kept so a response can be prepared. It remains within our organization unless a legal duty requires disclosure to someone else.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, the server automatically receives basic technical information about that visit:
- Page-view timestamps
- The referring website, when one is available
- Visited pages and the time spent on them
- Device type and operating system
- Browser name and version
- The device's IP address
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files stored on a device. We use them with analytics services to understand traffic patterns, such as popular pages and common exit points. A browser can block cookies at any time, although doing so may change how parts of the site function.
What We Do With This Data
- Routing a query to the appropriate search partner
- Finding and repairing technical problems
- Operating the site and maintaining page speed
- Measuring which content is useful and which content needs work
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
We do not maintain, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. The site identifies how to request Gratiot County records from the sheriff, the 65B District and 29th Circuit courts, Michigan State Police CJIC, and the Michigan Public Sex Offender Registry. Visitor data is not compiled into a third-party dossier or consumer report, and this site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. A query entered there is governed by that partner's privacy policy rather than this policy. Each partner sets its own retention and disclosure rules, which we do not control. Read those terms before sending a search.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to sheriff pages, court portals, Michigan agency sites, legal-aid resources, or external search tools. Once a visitor follows a link, the destination's privacy policy controls the visit. Review it before providing personal information.
Some advertising providers may use activity across websites to select targeted ads. That tracking occurs on the provider's systems, not ours.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be received by:
- Advertising networks that serve ads on the pages
- Search partners processing a visitor's query
- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal order
- Analytics providers measuring traffic and performance
How We Protect Your Data
Standard security measures are used to protect collected information. No internet-connected system is completely secure, however, so we cannot guarantee that a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
This website is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If a minor has provided information, contact us so it can be deleted promptly.
Your Data Rights
Rights may differ based on where a visitor lives. Michigan's Freedom of Information Act, MCL 15.231 et seq., governs access to records of public bodies, while MCL 28.242a governs dissemination of Michigan criminal-history information. Those laws do not turn this private site into a public agency or official repository. For information held by us, a visitor can:
- Opt out of certain processing where that right applies
- Request deletion of personal data we hold
- Ask that inaccurate information be corrected
- Request a copy of personal information we have about you
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised. Any new version will be posted here with an updated effective date, so visitors should review it periodically.
Effective date: July 27, 2026
