Terms of Use

These conditions govern all use of the website. Visiting a page, reading its content, or submitting a search means that you accept them. If you do not agree, stop using the site.

NO FCRA USE. This privately operated website has no connection to a local, Michigan, or federal government body. Neither the site nor its advertising partners provides a service for credit decisions, employment screening, insurance underwriting, tenant screening, or another use regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). The site helps readers locate Gratiot County and Michigan criminal-record sources. It is neither a private investigation company nor a consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

This is a private reference site with no government affiliation. It does not store official criminal records and cannot retrieve records, perform an official background check, or submit a filing for a visitor.

Its function is to identify the custodians of Gratiot County records, including the Gratiot County Sheriff's Office, 65B District Court, 29th Circuit Court, Michigan State Police CJIC, and the Michigan Public Sex Offender Registry. Michigan's Freedom of Information Act, MCL 15.231 et seq., governs requests to covered public bodies, and MCL 28.242a addresses dissemination of state criminal-history information. The site may also connect visitors to outside research tools.

2. Rules for Using This Site

As a condition of access, you must not:

  • Use bots, scrapers, or other automated tools against the pages
  • Interfere with performance or prevent another person from accessing the site
  • Use any information to stalk, threaten, or harass a person
  • Attempt to enter systems or areas without authorization
  • Use site content for hiring, housing, credit, or insurance decisions
  • Violate federal, Michigan, or local law through use of the site

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

No information found here or through a linked tool may be used to threaten, stalk, intimidate, harass, or discriminate against anyone. Such conduct is prohibited and may violate criminal law. Michigan Public Sex Offender Registry data requires particular care under the Sex Offenders Registration Act, MCL 28.721 et seq. It exists for public safety awareness, not vigilantism, blacklisting, or discriminatory action.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

We are not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and do not create consumer reports, credit reports, or official background checks. Our advertising partners do not provide a service here for evaluating job candidates, rental applications, credit, or insurance. Information from this site or any linked tool must not be used to:

  • Determine eligibility for a license, permit, or government benefit
  • Set an insurance premium or evaluate creditworthiness
  • Review a renter or housing applicant
  • Make a hiring or termination decision
  • Carry out any other FCRA-regulated purpose

A lawful check for a regulated purpose must be obtained from Michigan State Police through the authorized official process or from a screening provider that complies with the FCRA.

5. No Legal Advice

The content is not legal advice. General information about Gratiot County records cannot determine how a charge, warrant, conviction, or Michigan set-aside rule applies to a particular person. Consult a Michigan-licensed attorney for that advice.

6. No Warranties

All content and functions are supplied "as is." We make no promise that:

  • Partner search results will be accurate or complete
  • Every page will be free from defects, errors, or security weaknesses
  • The website will remain available without interruption
  • Information will always be complete, accurate, and current

Criminal records can change as charges are filed, dismissed, restricted, or set aside. Gaps and delays are unavoidable, and no statement here is an official representation from a court, sheriff, or other government agency.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links may lead to sheriff offices, court systems, Michigan agencies, legal-aid groups, and outside search providers. We do not control those destinations and are not responsible for their content, privacy practices, fees, or availability. Review a destination's own terms before using it.

8. Intellectual Property

The site's text, graphics, logos, and code belong to Gratiot County Criminal History or its content partners. They may not be copied, changed, distributed, or used to create derivative work without prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the maximum extent allowed by law, we accept no liability for damage arising from use of this site, including reliance on content obtained here or through a linked service.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, demands, or proceedings caused by your use of the website or violation of these terms, including related legal costs and fees.

11. Governing Law

Michigan law governs these terms. Any dispute arising from use of the site must be brought in a court located in Michigan.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these terms at any time. A revision becomes effective when it is posted on this page.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access may be restricted or ended at any time, with or without advance notice and for any reason.

14. Severability

If one provision is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining terms continue in force. The affected provision will be adjusted only to the extent needed to make it enforceable.

15. Questions

Questions about these conditions may be directed through the Contact page.
